Today we spent a very enjoyable day in Manor Village Hall attending the Peeblesshire Beekeepers Association's course for beginners. There is clearly a lot to learn, but Mandy, Peter, Helen and David gave us a great grounding in the basics.
We have been promised some bees from the Association's apiary later in the spring when they have split a colony to control swarming. In the mean time there is lots of reading to do and we will need to get equipment, a hive and identify a site for our apiary.
Fortunately are neighbours seem as excited as us about getting some bees, so having the bees nearby shouldn't be a problem.
