Apart from a brief spell at the beginning of December, the winter has been very mild so far with lots of dry weather and sunshine. An unusual winter combination for Scotland!
The bees have been quite active and as well as the Winter Jasmine you might expect, we already have both Snowdrop and Winter Aconite in bloom.

There have been a few flashes of pale yellow-green pollen going into the colonies.
However, in the last day or so the weather has cooled significantly. The last two nights saw heavy frosts with shady ground remaining frozen all day. Snow has arrived further north and is forecast here from tomorrow for several weeks. Winter is finally coming!
