We had our first look inside the colonies after the August swarms. The increase in pollen coming in that we had noticed earlier in the week was encouraging that the new queens might be mated and laying. And to our joy we found eggs and larvae both in the hive and in the mid-August nuc. We also saw the queen in the cast swarm nuc although no signs of eggs.
This is very encouraging. Maybe we have managed to recover the situation successfully and even increase our number of colonies.
The hive also has 1 super pretty well filled with capped honey, so we might get a small honey harvest too which would be a real and unexpected bonus.
